: XXI Century. The autocracy and the oprichnina are returning to Russia, and again the “Iron Curtain” arises. One of the top Moscow oprichniks kills people and takes a bribe, confident that he is serving Russia.
The narration is conducted on behalf of the oprichnik Andrey Komyaga.
Russia, XXI century. Sixteen years ago, a coup d'état took place, the Gray Troubles, the monarchists seized power in the country, autocracy reigned. The country was fenced off by a new "iron curtain" from the West, everything foreign and progressive is forbidden, the Russians do not go abroad, the arbitrariness of the guardsmen constantly fighting against internal enemies reigns. The country is experiencing stagnation of industry and ideology, the decline of morality, culture and morality. Russia “rolled back” back to the Middle Ages, ostentatious religiosity, primitive art, and kvass patriotism are imposed. The official name of the period is the Revival of Holy Russia. The main trading partner of the country is China, all those close to power, including the oprichniks, “earn” the transit of goods from the Middle Kingdom to Europe. Land in Siberia is leased to the Chinese, there are many in the capital. The country's main income is the sale of natural gas. Society is divided into estates according to the principle of proximity to the royal family. Oprichniki are at the top of the social ladder.
The protagonist of the story is the oprichnik Andrey Danilovich Komyaga, one of the leaders of the metropolitan oprichnina (secret police). From his rich tower expropriated from the "enemy of the people", a servant full of servants, in the morning Andrei goes to work in a special lane on an expensive red Mercedes. A dog head is tied to the front bumper of the car, and a broom is attached to the rear bumper. Absolutely all show him servility.
The Oprichnik goes to reprisal with the “pillar” (aristocrat), legitimized and initiated by the king. In the country there is another "witch hunt", something that did not please the sovereign. With shouts “Word and deed! Goyda! ” “Indigenous”, that is, honored, guardsmen ravage the “pillar” house, kill him, rape his wife and send the children to an orphanage. The house is burned with flamethrowers, journalists are shooting a fire, in the evening the report will be on television news. After the execution - the church service in the Assumption Cathedral with the remission of sins. Later - a solemn meal in the White House of the Kremlin. The whole color of the oprichnina is being gathered, including Dad, the elderly head of the Russian oprichnina. Many years ago, he participated in a coup d'etat, and for this he was generously awarded the king. Andrei Komyaga in the oprichnina "ranking" ranks fourth. He, like the few, has a university education.
The king calls Batu and three close guardsmen in the Secret Order on an important matter. There, the head of the Secret Order reads them a libel on the royal son-in-law of Urusov - a secret rapist and murderer. By video link, the emperor orders the interrogator to interrogate, which immediately happens. He confesses everything. While the sovereign orders not to pursue his criminal relative. Kolyaga sincerely admires the king.
Andrey is present as a censor at the run of the upcoming gala concert. The pop numbers are primitive and vulgar, unrestrainedly glorify Russian achievements and ridicule the hostile West. To Komyag turns Kozlova, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater, with a request for intercession before the sovereign. The hero agrees to help her repressed girlfriend for a bribe and drugs. There are certain tariffs for helping “enemies of the people”.
Ballerina takes out a forbidden Chinese drug - an aquarium. Kolyaga listens to western radio stations inaccessible to the people. He is sincerely outraged by European criticism of the Russian authorities about the lack of democracy and terror against his own people. The hero ardently supports the retaliatory steps of the autocracy against the hostile West, which are expressed, inter alia, in turning off the gas supply.
The hero takes the aquarium to the bathhouse, discussing the advantages and disadvantages of various drugs. Cocaine, weed in the country are officially permitted, and heroin, mushrooms and an aquarium are prohibited. Kolyaga disagrees with the policy of the sovereign regarding fish from the aquarium; he regrets that he rarely enjoys such pleasure and contrary to the law.
Kolyaga, Dad and other close associates fall into a pre-narcotic trance. Throwing a microscopic fish into a vein, the hero waits for her to swim to the brain and a real buzz. In narcotic intoxication, he feels that all seven turned into the seven-headed Serpent Gorynych, flew to the USA, killed a mass of overseas people and returned home. Having woken up, the guardsmen feel an unprecedented mental and physical upsurge.
The business team flies to Orenburg and meets with the daughter of the executed enemy of the people. The woman boldly talks with him, and the hero talks about the superfluous, in his opinion, sovereign mercy to the families of executed criminals.
Andrei and a local oprichnik go to customs to rip off a large bribe from the Chinese transporting consumer goods to Europe along the Road, a specially constructed ground and underground highway for freight transport from China. Customs officers threaten to intervene in the matter, and the hero, close to the tsar and possessing a seal, was sent to intercept the "kickback". The kolyaga cleverly turns the criminal scheme, a bribe falls to the guardsmen, who have a long war with customs officers.
The kolyaga flies to Tobol to the clairvoyant Praskovye on the sovereign and personal affairs. Clairvoyant - a disabled person, burns books of Russian classics, considering them harmful. The hero recalls how many times he saw and burned books forbidden by the authorities. The largest and hottest bonfire turned out then from the passports of Russians who were forbidden to travel. Praskovya fascinates the archery centurion to the queen, with such a delicate deed the hero does not come here for the first time. He learns his future and the future of Russia - "there will be nothing." The clairvoyant does not like the guardsmen, and the Kolyaga is afraid of her power.
Andrei is returning to Moscow. On the way to the concert, he watches whipmen punish the grader from the Order of the Arts. Corporal punishment is a commonplace reality; representatives of various classes are regularly whipped in certain areas of the capital.
At the concert of the famous folk bard Artamoshi, a provocation of the "goodwomen" - a youth ultra-patriotic organization - is expected against the singer’s unwanted power. The bard performs a satirical-allegorical epic about the immorality of the queen, accompanying himself on a saw. The provocation of the "goodwomen" fails, they are beaten by an audience that hates the queen. The kolyaga is upset, realizing that he will have to answer to the royal family for the failure of the "cultural" mission. Thinking about the disrupted concert, he comes to the conclusion that Artamosh’s national favorite will end badly, trying to make fun of the empress.
The kolyaga is reporting to the queen about a visit to a clairvoyant and unsuccessful reprisal with the bard. He is full of enthusiasm and reverence for the royal wife. Not embarrassed by the oprichnik, the empress is naked and takes a bath, after which she indifferently meets her twin children. During breakfast, the queen criticizes Komyaga for a puncture with Artamosha - they report to her and show a video of all the important incidents. The hero deftly dodges royal emotion. The tsarina recognizes her own profligacy and scolds the Russian people who make fun of her. Around it are a mass of reptiles. The kolyaga has dual feelings for the royal wife - love and hate.
In the evening, Andrei takes part in an oprichnina meal.It is held twice a week in an oprichnina mansion, once taken from the French embassy. At a meal by video link with the emperor, they solve the "Chinese question" related to the taxes of the Chinese working in Siberia. Decide not to spare them and rob. Dad gives a secret sign to those close to him: there will be a bathhouse.
The inner circle of guardsmen relaxes in the Batina bath. Sovereign people calculate corruption income per day (the day is profitable) and enter into a circular homosexual relationship (this strengthens corporate unity). Arriving with a request for protection of the disgraced tsar’s son-in-law, Count Urusov, the guardsmen are killed because they received permission from the tsar. Left on the sixth night of the midnight, the heroes take drugs and conduct hypocritical conversations about the Orthodox faith and the Motherland. They play the game of their beloved Batina - they drill each other's legs and, drunk, go home. In thoughts of his own significance for Russia, Andrei Komyaga falls asleep. The day of the oprichnik is over.
