(375 words) The theme of love is one of the key in the works of I.S. Turgenev. The author’s novels simultaneously cover several urgent problems, but love topics occupy a special place in the writer's work.
One of the most popular novels, Fathers and Sons, is no exception. The theme of love is raised by the author throughout the work. His main idea is that love exists, and not a single person can hide, avoid or resist this strong feeling. A vivid example is the nihilist Bazarov, who denied love, suddenly even in love with himself. Eugene at the beginning of the book argued to others that passion is just the invention of romantics, but in the finale he dies from separation from Anna Odintsova, who rejected him. The hero cannot resist attraction and keeps it in his soul until his death. Bazarov’s last desire was to see his beloved, despite the fact that she did not share his feelings.
Turgenev raises the theme of love in the novel “The Eve”. Elena is an example of a faithful, loving wife who is ready for anything for her lover. Even after the death of Insarov, the girl remains faithful to her husband and his beliefs. She is ready to give up everything that she had before, to neglect her desires for the sake of her beloved and his ideas. The heroine joined the Bulgarian revolutionary movement and began to fight for the freedom of the alien people, that is, she continued the work of Insarov. The author often gives a woman the ability to love a lot, this, according to the writer, is the main virtue of the weaker sex. We see the same picture in the novels Rudin and The Noble Nest, the novels Asya and First Love. The heroines selflessly surrender to passion, not afraid to get burned by the flame of emotions. But, as a rule, their impulse is tragic, like a moth flying into a candle fire. Asya saw the cowardice and indecision of her chosen one, so she left him forever with a broken heart. Alexandra, too, was disappointed in the sake of whom she was ready to break off relations with friends and brother. Zinaida compromised herself in society, distorted her life for the sake of communication with a married man. But she never reproached him, but only dutifully kissed the wound from the whip on her wrist. Lisa could not come to terms with the collapse of hopes of marriage with Lavretsky and went to the monastery.
Turgenev presents love as a feeling that makes a person live, move forward and feel happy. Without her, he cannot be happy - this is the main idea that I.S. Turgenev runs a red thread through his works. However, the same feeling can burn the soul and turn the life of one who sincerely loves.
