Write an essay-reasoning, revealing the meaning of the statement of the famous linguist N.M. Shansky: "On the example of a complexly subordinated sentence, one can trace how a person expresses the relationship between the world and his own point of view."
The famous linguist had in mind that the manner in which thoughts are expressed can say a lot about the thought itself. Thus, complex sentences using verbal connectives reveal how a person imagines the relationship between the world and his own point of view.
An example from the above text is the following sentence:
(18) The whole next day I thought about Sharik, tried to convince myself that I was not very guilty of what had happened: where could I take him then, because I myself did not know where to stumble.
The first part of the sentence smoothly flows into the second: the narrator explains in detail what exactly he thought about Sharik. Using a colon in the middle of a sentence, he creates a causal relationship in his reasoning, justifying himself to the reader at the level of logic, not feeling. The proposal, as it were, tells us: it is very logical, and you yourself would think so. And here is an example when emotions are transmitted:
(22) He told me that Sharik was very bored after my departure, he was all looking for me, he ran to the road, howled at night ...
Stringing verb sentences on each other, the author emphasizes the intensity of the dog’s experiences. She does not know what to do, so she does everything at once and wants to return the owner, no matter what.
Thus, the structure of a sentence can convey not only the literacy level of the author, but the train of his thoughts. In addition, complex sentences perfectly reflect the intensity of feeling.
